Richard Patterson

Richard Patterson is a name familiar to most local residents and a name synonymous with the area's prestige property marketing, having been the proprietor and franchisee for 32 years.

Commencing his career as an accountant, Richard found that while looking to purchase his first home, he had an immediate interest in property. Deciding on a career change, Richard was to study and gain his license while selling property in the Eastern suburbs of Sydney. Two years later, an opportunity arose to buy an established agency in his home area, and shortly after he was approached to join the Richardson & Wrench franchise group. Over the ensuing years he has won many of the company's prestigious awards and is held in high regard by his colleagues. His most recent award this year was for highest auction clearance rate, this is the second year in a row he has won this award.

Richard has nurtured the business for three decades, experiencing all economic climates and positioning the business as one of the dominant agencies in the area for residential sales and property management. The development of the business over the years has included the acquisition of many rental portfolios, resulting in the company managing one of the largest property portfolios in the area.

An innovative, pro-active and progressive manager, Richard's role is all encompassing, from maintaining overall control of the business to managing his team, while maintaining an unsurpassed sales record; ensuring there is never a compromise on ethical behaviour. His long standing affiliation with the Real Estate Institute of NSW is acknowledgement of this.

Richard, Melanie, and their two daughters, have enjoyed the privilege of growing up in the fabulous backyard of leafy Lindfield on Sydney's North Shore.

He has extensive local knowledge, which was very helpful to us because we are not from the area and were selling this property on behalf of a very elderly relative. Richard went out of his way to visit that relative and explain in detail the selling process that was intended ( it necessarily had to be auctioned). We were regularly updated on the details and progress of the "open for inspections" and as we were preparing the property for sale Richard made regular visits to update himself and his staff as to progress. We have been involved in many property transactions over the years, but it is the first time I have seen an agency principal turn up at a property early in the morning before an "open house" and get out a leaf blower to clear away the leaf drop and ensure the properties presentation was to his satisfaction! Likewise the R&W staff called by to check on the property after some severe weather. In all respects they were prepared to go "the extra mile".

Everyone you speak to has some helpful suggestions which at the end of the day makes your choice even more murky.
